Zlatan Ibrahimovi (born 3 October 1981) is a Swedish striker who currently plays for Serie A club AC Milan and the Sweden national team. He is largely considered as one of football’s best strikers. Ibrahimovi has won 31 awards in his career, making him one of the most decorated current footballers on the planet. He has scored in each of the last four decades and has over 570 career goals, including over 500 club goals.
Ibrahimovi began his professional career with Malmö FF in 1999, and two years later, he joined Ajax. Ibrahimovi rose through the ranks at Ajax to become one of Europe’s most promising forwards before joining Juventus two years later. He was a standout in Serie A alongside David Trezeguet before joining Inter Milan in 2006, where he won the Capocannoniere (Serie A top scorer) in 2008–09 and three consecutive Serie A titles. He joined Barcelona in one of the most expensive transactions in history in the summer of 2009, before returning to Italy the following season to join AC Milan.
Before joining Paris Saint-Germain in July 2012, he won another Serie A title with them during the 2010–11 season. Ibrahimovi earned a slew of accolades during his four-year stint in France, including four straight Ligue 1 crowns and three seasons as the league’s top scorer. He was PSG’s all-time best goalscorer at the time, in October 2015.In his debut season, he won the FA Community Shield, Football League Cup, and UEFA Europa League after joining Manchester United on a free transfer in 2016. In 2018, Ibrahimovi moved to the LA Galaxy of the United States. He re-joined AC Milan two years later.
On the 3rd of October 1981, Ibrahimovi was born in Malmö, Sweden. He was born to a Muslim Bosniak father, efik Ibrahimovi, who fled to Sweden in 1977 and a Catholic Croat mother, Jurka Gravi, who emigrated to Sweden as well. After getting a pair of football boots at the age of six, Ibrahimovi began playing football. He played football for FBK Balkan, a Malmö club created by Yugoslav immigrants, Malmö BI, and BK Flagg for a short time.
His mother used to smack him over the head with a wooden spoon, which would frequently shatter when he was a toddler. Social services intervened when she was detained for dealing in stolen goods. Concerned about his divorced mother’s capacity to handle five children, one of whom, Zlatan’s half-sister, had a drug problem, he was transferred to live with his father when he was nine years old.
Zlatan would often go hungry at his father’s house, which had a refrigerator stocked with alcohol, so he would rush to his mother’s house for dinner. He also thieved bicycles and shoplifted. In a 3–0 win over Saint-Étienne in the Europa League Round of 32 on February 16, Ibrahimovi scored his first hat-trick for Manchester United. He made his first FA Cup debut on February 19, coming on as a 62nd-minute replacement and scored the game-winning goal in a 2–1 fifth-round win at Ewood Park against Blackburn Rovers.
Ibrahimovi scored two goals in the 2017 EFL Cup Final, a free-kick and a winning header, to win United’s fifth League Cup and his second trophy with the club, exactly one week after making his FA Cup debut. The Football Association suspended Ibrahimovi for three games on March 7 for aggressive conduct after he elbowed Bournemouth’s Tyrone Mings in a 1–1 draw at Old Trafford three days before. Ibrahimovi was later named to the PFA Player of the Year shortlist, which was announced on April 13th.
In a Europa League quarter-final match against Anderlecht at Old Trafford on April 20, Ibrahimovi suffered significant ligament damage in his right knee. The injury is expected to keep the player out until the end of the 2016–17 season, according to multiple sources. Ibrahimovi was nominated to the UEFA Europa League team of the season after Manchester United beat Ajax in the Europa League Final at the Friends Arena in Stockholm. Manchester United announced at the end of the season that Ibrahimovi would be released when his contract expired on June 30, 2017, but they later revealed that they were in talks with Ibrahimovi to re-sign him for the remainder of the 2017–18 Premier League season.
Ibrahimovi made his first appearance for Milan since returning from injury on September 12, 2021, and scored in a 2–0 win over Lazio, becoming the oldest non-Italian player to score a goal in Serie A history, breaking the record previously held by former Parma centre-back Bruno Alves, at the age of 39 years and 344 days. After Alessandro Costacurta, Silvio Piola, and Pietro Vierchowod, Ibrahimovi scored Milan’s fourth goal in a 4–2 triumph over Bologna on October 23. He became the oldest player to score a brace in a Serie A game and the first 40-year-old player to score a brace in Europe’s top five leagues in the twenty-first century on November 20, when he scored two goals in a 4–3 loss to Fiorentina.
brahimovi scored an acrobatic equaliser in stoppage time in a 1–1 tie with Udinese on December 11, becoming only the third player in the twenty-first century to reach the milestone of 300 career league goals throughout Europe’s top five leagues, following Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Ibrahimovi is a powerful and accurate striker of the ball with either foot, and is recognised for his precision from penalties and dead ball situations, despite being normally right-footed.His height, elevation, and power often provide him an advantage in aerial confrontations, as well as allowing him to operate as a “target man”; he is an accurate finisher with his head as well as his feet.
Ibrahimovi is unusually agile for a player his size, and his quickness and talent in the air have seen him score multiple goals from acrobatic strikes and volleys throughout his career, earning him the nickname Ibracadabra in the Italian media. Despite his size and physique, Ibrahimovi has excellent technique and ball control, which, combined with his balance, power, and physicality, allows him to hold up the ball well with his back to goal, retain possession, and link up with other players;pundits have praised him for his creativity and dribbling skills.Although he lacks extraordinary speed, especially at shorter distances, which became more apparent as he aged,He’s also a speedy player and sprinter, with strong acceleration in his youthand top speeds of over 30 km/h well into his 30s.
