Justin James Watt was born on March 22, 1989, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, to Connie and John Watt. He was raised in the United States. His father worked as a firefighter, and his mother worked as a vice president of building operations. He has two younger brothers named Derek and TJ Watt, both of whom went on to play professional football in their respective leagues.

He played hockey until he was 13 years old, but he eventually developed a passion for football and gave up hockey in order to devote his time and energy to one sport. He went to ‘Pewaukee High School,’ where he participated in track and field events as well as basketball and baseball. He also played basketball and baseball for the school. In 2007, he won the state championship in the shot put and set a new school record in the process.

On the first team of the “All-State,” “All-County,” and “All-Conference,” he was selected during his senior year at a high level. He was named the ‘Woodland Conference Player of the Year’ and the ‘Most Valuable Player’ of his team after winning the ‘Player of the Year award (MVP). By ‘Rivals.com’ and ‘Scout.com,’ he was considered to be a two-star recruit. The opportunity to play defensively for the ‘Central Michigan’ Wolverines came to him even though he was not a top-ranked player at the time of his selection.

Butch Jones, the coach at Central Michigan University, offered him a scholarship, and he went on to play under his guidance. It was recommended that he go from a defensive to an offensive position. He did, however, continue to play defensive end for the rest of the season. He subsequently went on to play at the ‘University of Wisconsin-Madison,’ where he continued to play in the defensive position for the next four years. He was given a redshirt for the 2008 season and was awarded the ‘Scout Team Player of the Year’ for Wisconsin.

In 2010, he was awarded the ‘Ronnie Lott Trophy and was selected as the team’s ‘MVP.’ By the end of his college career, he had been selected to the ‘All-American’ first team as well as the ‘All-Big Ten first team. Watt is from the low-income family background. Because of economical difficulties, he was forced to give up hockey as a child. While in college, he even worked as a pizza delivery boy to supplement his income. However, as his professional football career advanced, things began to alter.

He stands above six feet tall and weighs 131 kg (about). His strong frame has proven to be his most valuable attribute and has assisted him in his game. In 2017, he made a $100,000 donation and participated in an online campaign to aid disaster relief operations in the Houston area. His philanthropic endeavors earned him the title of ‘Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year for his contributions to the community. In addition, he was named a finalist for the ‘Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year.’

The soccer player Kealia Mae Ohai, the captain of the ‘Houston Dash’ and a member of the United States women’s national soccer team, with whom he is in a romantic connection. The two of them were introduced to each other by his teammate Brian Cushing, who is married to her younger sister. In 2015, he was promoted to the position of vice president of power relations for ‘Reliant,’ which is a subsidiary of ‘NRG Energy,’ a publicly-traded energy company. “Baylor College of Medicine” awarded him an honorary doctorate degree in 2018 for his contributions to medicine.

He is the founder of the ‘Justin J. Watt Foundation,’ which encourages children to participate in sports and to stay away from vices that are known to damage the lives of young people. It is the motto of his organization, “Dream Big, Work Hard,” to live by. Aside from the film “Bad Moms,” he has appeared in episodes of the television shows “The League,” “New Girl,” and “Bad Moms 2.” During his time at ‘Pewaukee High School,’ he was recognized with letters in football, basketball, baseball, and track activities.

During his time in school, he participated in a variety of sports, including hockey, basketball, baseball, and track & field. However, he then turned his attention to football, and he went on to play for Central Michigan and Wisconsin in college. As the highest overall performer in all categories, with the exception of the 40-yard dash, he was selected by the ‘Houston Texans’ in the first round of the ‘National Football League (NFL) Draft and signed to a four-year deal, which was later extended for an additional six years.

“NFL Defensive Player of the Year,” “Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year,” and “Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year” have all been bestowed upon him in recent years. Watt has suffered a number of injuries throughout his career. In his spare time when he is not playing football, he devotes his efforts to philanthropic endeavors. He established the ‘Justin J. Watt Foundation,’ which provides possibilities to children after they have completed their education. He has also volunteered for a variety of other charitable organizations.

He has been promoted to the position of vice president of power relations for ‘Reliant.’ Baylor College of Medicine has awarded him an honorary doctorate degree in recognition of his contributions to the medical field. He is now in a relationship with soccer star Kealia Mae Ohai, who is the captain of the ‘Houston Dash’ and a member of the United States women’s national football team. At the moment, the sports couple appears to have everything working in their favor.  He was selected in the first round of the draught. When the ‘Houston Texans’ came calling in July 2011.

Watt was named the ‘Texans Team Rookie of the Year,’ according to the Houston Chronicle. The Pro Football Weekly/PWFA All-Rookie Team and the USA Today All-Joe team have both recognized him for his efforts in the NFL. Watt’s year 2012 was one of the most fruitful in his professional life. During that season, he had 69 solo tackles, 12 assisted stops, 20.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries. He was also named to the Pro Bowl. He was selected the ‘MVP’ of his club and the ‘AP Defensive Player of the Year,’ respectively. In addition, his personal performance in 2013 was excellent.

His squad, on the other hand, was unable to deliver and ended up losing the majority of the season. Watt was selected to the ‘NFL Pro Bowl’ that year, and he also served as the captain of the ‘Pro Bowl’ team. When he agreed to a six-year extension with the Texans in 2014, he received a $100 million bonus, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). He had the distinction of being the first ‘Texan’ defensive player to score a touchdown from scrimmage during that season, which he achieved.

The All-Pro First-Team as a defensive end in 2014, and the ‘All-Pro Second-Team’ as a defensive tackle in 2015 were both named to the same list. He was also selected to the 2015 ‘Pro Bowl,’ and he was named the ‘Defensive Player of the Year,’ for the second time in his career. ‘Pro Bowl’ was called off due to a groin ailment and left-hand fracture, which prompted him to withdraw from this year’s competition.

He had to have groin surgery to correct the problem. In addition, he had back surgery to repair a bulging disc that was interfering with his ability to play. Despite this, he managed to earn a spot on the ‘NFL Top 100 Players of 2017’ list, which placed him at number 35. The ‘Jacksonville Jaguars’ were the opponents for his first game of the 2017 season. Later in the season, though, he sustained a leg injury that necessitated the need for yet another operation. Injuries to his knee and ankle forced him to miss the rest of the season.

In 2010, he was named to the first team of the ‘All-Big Ten’ conference as well as the first team of the ‘All-American’ conference. The next year, he was awarded the ‘Lott Trophy.’ 2012 and 2015, he led the NFL in sacks and was named ‘NFL Defensive Player of the Year for the third time in his career. During the 2012-2015 season, he was selected to the ‘Pro Bowl,’ and he was named to the ‘All-Pro’ first-team four times in a row, from 2012 to 2015. ‘Bert Bell Award’ was given to him in 2014 for his contributions to the field.

Sports Illustrated named him Sportsman of the Year, and the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, both honors he received the following year. As a child actor, Watt is well-known for his interactions with children. On July 2, 2011, the Berry family was returning home from a vacation in Colorado Springs when the incident occurred. The parents, Joshua and Robin Berry were killed in a head-on collision, and their two sons, Peter and Aaron, were left with physical disabilities. Willa, their daughter, survived just minor injuries. Watt met the children at a fundraising event and grew to care for and love them as a result.

He participated in wheelchair basketball with them and imitated pushing a wheelchair after sacking a quarterback during a 2012 game, according to the team’s website. The mime served as a mutually agreed-upon signal between the Berry children and Watt to signify the end of the sack party. Following the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012, Watt learned that several of the families who had been affected lived in the Houston region, which he immediately contacted. He invited them to come out to the field and hang out while throwing the football around.

He then proceeded to present them with autographed goods that he had previously worn during games. In October 2015, he surprised children at the Texas Children’s Hospital with a Halloween party in which he dressed up as the superhero Batman. As a result of his efforts, he has generated more than $37 million ($100,000 of which he personally donated) to assist Houston in its recovery from Hurricane Harvey, exceeding his original goal of $200,000.

Following the massacre at Santa Fe High School on May 18, 2018, which resulted in the deaths of eight students and two teachers, Watt promised to cover the costs of the victims’ funerals. Watt was involved in ice hockey from the age of four until he was thirteen years old, competing in competitions as far away as Canada and Germany. He stated that he was “mainly a center and a goal scorer” during his time with the team. Watt decided to give up hockey in order to concentrate on football because of the financial burden of the sport and the need to choose between hockey and football.

Watt has jokingly stated that he “may or may not” incorporate skating into his offseason training regimen. As an undergraduate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Watt delivered pizza for a Pewaukee Pizza Hut while working as a delivery driver for Davin Joseph (second from left) and two United States soldiers recuperating at Regional Command South in March 2013. Earlier this year, Watt was promoted to the position of Vice-President of Power Relations at Reliant Energy.

Reliant Energy, a retail power provider in Texas and a subsidiary of NRG Energy Inc., is a subsidiary of NRG Energy Inc. Watt was awarded an honorary degree from Baylor College of Medicine on February 15, 2018, according to a press release from the medical institution. On May 29, 2018, he was awarded the Doctor of Humanities in Medicine degree by the University of Pennsylvania.
