Midland is a city full of interesting quirks. The way the outfield wall was set up was one of the first things that attracted my eye. The right-field corner stands out the most. This means that the right-field corner has been hollowed out for the Midland bullpen, resulting in a significantly reduced in-play area for the right field.

In addition, the wall in front of the bullpen is very short, so anything further down the line has a fair possibility of going through it. Joe Jackson made the most of it on Sunday, blasting a three-run homer to end the game.
Despite the fact that it’s not exactly the same arrangement on the left-field side, it’s still a unique formation. From the foul pole in left field, a diagonal cut leads to the main wall. It bends inward in a wavy shape from there before returning to its normal curvature for the rest of the way.

In addition to the wall, this park has a lot to offer visitors. At night, a set of water fountains on the concourse in the left-center field are illuminated. The RockHounds’ horn, which plays whenever they score, is also noteworthy. Obviously, Security Bank Ballpark isn’t the only place in Minor League Baseball where this is done (the Riders have their own version, but it’s a little bit different).

However, it enhances the atmosphere of the ballpark. The park provides a cozy atmosphere thanks to the well-kept seating bowl. The proximity of our broadcast booth to the field enhances the quality of our broadcasts.

Additionally, the personnel in Midland has been quite welcoming and helpful. Overall, my first visit to Security Bank Ballpark was a positive experience. Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock, Arkansas, will be the subject of the next ballpark bio, which will be published in a few weeks.

The Atlanta Braves Beat the Freeze campaign served as a major inspiration for our Riders Run Series. For the RoughRiders, I envisioned an LED game similar to these campaigns, but with a distinctive twist that would make it stand out from the crowd. It occurred to me that we might use our three Daktronics outfield LEDs as the basis for this racing idea that I had been working on in my head. The race would have been much shorter if we only had one outfield board, so we’re grateful to have the LED system we have.

It took a lot of trial and error to figure out how fast each LED animation could be controlled. I owe a debt of gratitude to all of the interns and employees who raced the LED boards in search of the optimal speed for each board. In our first race, we picked a competitor who was in town for a track meet and blew away the T-Rex. All three outfield boards must be completed in thirty seconds, and most test runs were completed with five seconds to spare. I wanted complete control over the timing of each race-related animation in order to ensure that the fan always came out on top.

I used green screen stock footage and Adobe After Effects to make all of the graphics. We use four of the eight LED boards in the stadium for this race. In our Show Control system, I designed buttons that will activate the separate boards’ animations. In order to get the race started, a generic collection of images is displayed at the start of the race. It’s then that we switch to 16:9 footage during our PA read-through of the race to show our competitor on the field.

The name of the race and a 30-second countdown clock is displayed on the video’s wings on either side in our 16:9 style. When the race begins, I press the start button to activate the clock and begin the first animation. After that, based on the speed of the competitor, I activate each animation in order to keep the race as close as possible. The winning boards are activated once the contestant has won. A winning song is played when the event is over, setting the scene and evoking memories of the race.

The Terminator concept is fantastic! Most of our races will be based on the theme nights that we have planned for the year. For example, on our education days, fans can race SpongeBob in our “Riders Sponge Run,” and during Princess and Pirates Night, they can race Jack Sparrow, who may or may not be slightly intoxicated, in our “Riders Treasure Run.”

Sandlot Night “Riders Beat The Beast Run” and Forrest Gump Night “The One and Only Forrest Gump Run” are also on the schedule, as is the one and only Forrest Gump himself. When I produce these LED races, I have a lot of material to work with thanks to the baseball season’s most extensive promotional program.

At addition to the wall, there is a great deal to see and do in this park. An illuminated set of water fountains located on the concourse in the left-center field is available at night. Furthermore, the RockHounds’ horn, which sounds everytime they score a goal, is notable. There are a few other places in Minor League Baseball where this is done, of course (the Riders have their own way that is a little bit different from Security Bank Ballpark).

It does, however, contribute to the overall mood of the ballpark. In addition to the well-kept seating bowl, the park provides a welcoming ambiance. The fact that our broadcast booth is so close to the field helps to improve the quality of our broadcasts.

Apart from that, the people in Midland have been quite friendly and helpful. Generally speaking, my first visit to Security Bank Ballpark proved to be a nice one. It will be a few weeks before the next ballpark biography is published, and it will be about Dickey-Stephens Park, which is located in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

The Atlanta Braves’ Beat the Freeze promotion served as a key source of inspiration for the Riders Run Series.. The RoughRiders would benefit from an LED game that was comparable to previous campaigns, but with a unique twist that would set it apart from the competition. After a while, it occurred to me that we might use our three Daktronics outfield LEDs as a starting point for this race concept that I had been kicking around in my head. We would have finished the race much sooner if we had only one outfield board, therefore we are grateful for the LED system that we have.

It required a lot of trial and error to find out how to manage the speed of each LED animation in the final product. It is because of all of the interns and staff who raced the LED boards to find the fastest possible speed for each board that I am writing this letter of gratitude. In our first race, we chose a competitor who happened to be in town for a track meet, and he completely destroyed the T-Rex. It is necessary to complete all three outfield boards in thirty seconds or less, and the majority of test runs were done with five seconds or less to spare. Because I wanted complete control over the timing of each race-related animation, I created a custom timer to ensure that the fan was always the victor.

Everything was created using green screen stock footage and Adobe After Effects. I hope you enjoy it! In order to conduct this race, we utilise four of the stadium’s eight LED boards. In our Show Control system, I created buttons that will activate the animations on the various boards on the stage. At the beginning of the race, a generic selection of images is displayed in order to get the race started. During our PA read-through of the race, we switch to 16:9 footage to show our competitor on the field, and this is when we switch to 4:3 footage.

The title of the race, as well as a 30-second countdown clock, are presented on either side of the video’s wings, which are formatted in our 16:9 format. In order to activate the clock and begin the first animation, I must press the start button when the race begins. Following that, I activate each animation in response to the competitor’s speed in order to maintain the race as close as feasible. Once a contender has won, the winning boards are turned on for him or her. As soon as the race is over, the victory song is played, setting the tone and conjuring memories of the race for the audience.

What a brilliant idea the Terminator concept is! A large number of our races will be themed around one of the many theme nights that we have planned throughout the year. For example, on our education days, fans can compete against SpongeBob in our “Riders Sponge Run,” and on Princess and Pirates Night, they can compete against Jack Sparrow, who may or may not be slightly intoxicated, in our “Riders Treasure Run,” among other activities.

Sandlot Night “Riders Beat The Beast Run” and Forrest Gump Night “The One and Only Forrest Gump Run” are also on the itinerary, as is Forrest Gump himself, who will be there for the first time ever. When it comes to creating these LED races, I have a plethora of material to work with thanks to the most detailed commercial effort the baseball season has ever seen.
