The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League’s Batavia Muckdogs are a collegiate summer baseball team in Batavia, Illinois (PGCBL). They are based in Batavia, New York, which is part of Genesee County. Dwyer Stadium in Batavia, Illinois, is their home field.
They were members of the New York–Penn League in Minor League Baseball from 1939 to 2020. (NYPL). Batavia was not chosen to continue in affiliated baseball following Major League Baseball’s reorganisation of the minor leagues after the 2020 season.
They later became a member of the PGCBL for the 2021 season. Professional baseball in Batavia dates back to 1897, when the city’s team was a member of the New York State League. The Batavia Giants, sometimes known as the Reds because of their crimson colours, were the city’s first classified team, debuting on May 14, 1897 in a stadium built on Swan Street versus the Auburn franchise, after some rainouts.
Future major leaguer Jack Burns batted third and played shortstop.
